Defiance
1975 created, 1987 moved to Paramount as part of Art in Public Places
Client: Paramount, Ca.
Location: SW corner of Paramount Blvd. and Rosecrans Ave., Paramount, Ca.
“Defiance” was used for a film shown to 400 million people outside the USA by the United States information Agency.
Story: Sculpture originally fabricated of corten and painted with Sterling Omaha Orange #1620.
The non-painted sculpture was modified sometime before our 2015 inspection; paint completely removed to corten base and allowed to weather. Which do you prefer, the weathered steel or the painted version?
